Good times this week! Chris left to go visit Joe up in Portland and then headed back to NC. It's a good reminder of how far we have come to see Tad so young :)
We'll start with this cute image of Sora and Jad. They were playing together as Kai did his soccer practice. Sora was actually acting up so she didn't get to go the playground and Noe wasn't around so she decided to make some hearts with branches which Jad helped to collect.

With Halloween coming up quick, the Connicks hosted a pumpkin carving. We had hoped for more neighbors to come but the usual suspects and their kids showed up so we still had lots of fun. Kai and Sora mostly did their own design and cutting this year and I only had to help Jad. They really are growing up.

This weekend, we also got rain! The "atmospheric river" dumped on all of NorCal and some places got over 10 inches of rain. I think we only got 2-3 but because it was just over a couple of days. It was cold and wet but welcome nonetheless because we really need rain :)

Amy still continues to train for her half marathon w/ Ngoc in a few weeks. The rain made for a muddy mess but she still ran 10 miles in it. Impressive, my wife! But I think she is getting a bit tired and will likely take a break from running for a bit after this one.

Amy also went to her Great Aunt's memorial and had a reunion with the Sun side of her family. A poignant event but also a reminder of a long and storied life. Apparently, Amy's So Popo was the first to open a Sichuan restaurant in the Bay Area!

Amy and I also celebrated our 12th anniversary this weekend. We were able to leave the kids with Vic and went out to dinner and an art show. Paesano's was a medium fancy place and the food was good but mostly, we just enjoyed the time together without the kids. We also finally used our gift certificate from two years ago (thanks, small group!)

After that we went to the Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience exhibit. Basically, you go through a small info maze about Van Gogh's life and then into a giant open room with animated projections of his art on the walls and floor. Not bad but I wish the infomaze was a bit more ordered and the price was a like $20 (rather than $45). Still a fun thing to do and different from our usual forays with the children so it was a good thing.

On our actual anniversary, a Monday, we got the kids to school as usual then had a celebratory lunch with our neighbors at Gen. Of course, with all you can eat, we had a weigh-in before and after to see who ate the most. Love our neighbors!
