Kids Medley // VMC Snow Trip 2023

Just carrying on with life as January ends and February begins this year.  Some pics of recent happenings..

Amy chaperoned Sora's class on a field trip
to the San Jose Tech Museum.  It's nice that we can
be a part of her school experience.

There was a fundraiser for Noble so the kids made bookmarks and
sold them to raise money.  5-10 cents each though they made more from
donations than anything.  $46 total.. very entreprenurial!

Amy and I were both off one day so we picked up Jad and took
him to lunch in Japantown.  He got Korean food, some candy from the
Nijiya market and lots of alone time with mom and dad.

In that same spirit of 1-on-1 time, I got to take
Sora to gymnastics then we had a nice time going for
Yogurtland afterwards.  Good daddy-daughter time :)

Kai also had his first violin performance at Noble.  He did great,
up front and center too :) Maybe we'll start violin lessons for him

Sesame has become very comfortable in our house and
is basically a house cat now.  He's usually no trouble, except when
meowing at 3am, and has learned to tolerate the kids very well.  Like
here, where they have posed toy lizards all around him

We celebrated Vic and Elysia's birthdays during one of our
neighborhood dinner gatherings.  So awesome to have such a good
community to live in!

After school, Jad will sometimes meet up with his classmate,
Yashew(sp?) to play a the playground.  She will go to Noble next year too
so hopefully, they will remain friends.

The big event of the last two weeks was our 2nd trip to Tahoe.  This time we went with the VMC crew, a total of 6 families including us, Ray's, John's, Mukesh's, Lin's and Minh and Denise's.  It is always fun though it seemed shorter than ever.  We left and got up there on Friday evening, had a full day of fun on Satuday and then left after breakfast on Friday.  Mukesh and Ray found the rental and it was a really large and nice 6 bedroom house right near the lake.  The adults got to catch up while the kids all played together.  Lots of fun and I'm glad we've been able to keep up the annual trip (except for 2021.. damn you, COVID...)

The kids piling on Mukesh

Jad got along with Drew very well

Amy leds the puzzle crew.  Here with
Harang and Nolan.

Kai also quickly made friends, again, with
Everest and Vishaan

Our family went sledding on Saturday at a nearby
sledding hill/park.  It was fun!

We also made a quick stop by King's Beach where the kids
walked on frozen ice! (only a novelty for Cali kids :)

There was plenty of shared meals.  Wei missed
out on these steaks!

Even though this place was huge, we're gonna have to start
finding larger accommodations if the families keep growing

On the way home, we stopped at the Jelly Belly Factory.  It's
kind of lame that they charge for the tour now and also don't give
few samples at the counter anymore... boo :(

I'll leave you this time with a family pic.  This is at the hillsides near Amy's parents house in Fremont.  With all the recent rains, the hills are green and the wildflowers have covered them in yellow.  It's rather pretty and lots of people were taking their pictures here.

Everyone is smiling, whoa!

Til next time!
