Milestones a-plenty

Today Jad hit two important milestones: the first is that we're starting to see a consistent social smile. :) He's been smiling at us for at least the last two weeks or so, but now it doesn't seem like just a fluke. It's cute when he smiles.. he makes eye contact, coos, and then his face breaks into a chubby, squishy smile. It's still difficult to capture on camera, but here's a half smile:

The second milestone was Jad's first trip to Costco! We would've never taken an six week old to Costco before, but here's a picture of Nik pushing three kids in a shopping cart:

We also celebrated Dustin and Ethan's birthdays this past Saturday with back-to-back parties. It was a great diversion for the kids and it made our Saturday pass by quickly.

Pancake Syrup is back with our neighbors. It was fun to have a cat for a little while, but I'm honestly glad that it was only temporary. Next week will be the true test of life with three kids: the kids' preschool will be on holiday for one week, the meal train that our church friends had so graciously set up for us has ended, and Nik returns to work next week. Fortunately, Grandma Udom will also be arriving this weekend and will then stay with us for a few weeks, so we'll have an extra pair of hands to help.

Nik is sad that his paternity leave is almost over (and so am I!). Here's a surprisingly decent picture of Nik in single parent mode with the kids during the LSCC Christmas party:

Super-dad!
