On the move

Nik and I were beginning to think that Sora would bypass crawling altogether since she seemed so determined to walk. However, even though she tries and tries, her balance is still not quite up to snuff, so this past week she started crawling.. just in time for her first birthday! She is also quite adept at cruising these days. Sora is enjoying her new found mobility, although we have to watch her more closely now that she's on the move.

Still falling..

.. so Sora has resorted to crawling.

Nowadays, you can really tell that Sora wants to join in on the fun and play with her older brother. Although I'm not sure if Kai is always happy to have Sora tagging along...

Kai is developing into quite a little personality. Sometimes we'll tell Kai, "It's not too bad," and he'll reply, "Too bad!" He's also starting to hit the terrible two's.. the other day we insisted that he apologize for hitting Sora and it took 30 minutes of time outs and coercing to get a "sorry Sora" out of him.

Kai and his third eye

He's been picking up a little bit of Mandarin from Bright Star. We've caught him singing to himself in Mandarin and he can count up to nine. The other day, he got a lolly pop from daycare and somehow, Kai managed to get it all over his face.

Backing up a little bit.. Nik and Kai carved a pumpkin together for Halloween.

We then celebrated Matthew and Auntie Lil's birthdays with Mongolian hot pot. Kai wasn't really a fan (for the most part, he ate rice), but Sora really liked the thinly sliced meats!

Since the end of daylight savings time.. it's been hard to play outside in the evenings since it's already dark by the time we pick up Kai from daycare, but we still like to get Kai out there. He likes riding his little red scooter around the neighborhood these days.

The large cardboard cylinder that we used to build Kai's Halloween costume has become a tunnel for Kai's toys. Nik managed to get a very Bond-esque picture of Kai the other day.

"Udompanyanan. Kai Udompanyanan."

We go to Costco a lot these days.. where else can you get a ginormous teddy bear? And the kids love the Costco rotisserie chicken.

"Christmas present, mama?"

The other day, Nik and I managed to take Sora out in the jogging stroller and explore Alum Rock Park. Hopefully this is just the beginning since Nik and I really want to get back into shape.

We're also gearing up for Sora's first birthday party/housewarming. Can't believe that our little Sora is almost one! :)

"Party time!"
